What does somebody else´s intimacy look like?

Intimacy is a photographic installation consisting of five pieces of luggage, each one transformed into a light box containing a scene from everyday life. Intimacy is a condition that is always sought to be protected, yet is constantly invaded. Each suitcase contains a familiar scene that is at once universal and deeply private. The setting of the suitcase re-emphasizes the personal nature of the moment captured in the image. The viewer is caught in this slightly perverse action of intrusion into another’s personal affairs. These pieces are meant to interact with the spectator: he/she may open the cases as one would open a treasure chest and discover what other people’s private selves look like. This body of work questions the viewer’s own voyeuristic practices; the moments we decide to share, and with whom.
